Is it Cervical Cancer disturbing you??? _Abet Tonny (Mak. Biomedical Scientist), tonnyabet@gmail.com/Tel.+256774633876

Today, a fresh news that your problem could actually be Cancer is emerging to be more heart throbbing than the dreadful news of HIV viruses being detected parading in your innocent blood in some few decades past. The lethal gloom associated with being diagnosed of cancer is more life eroding and depressing to the victim and relatives than death itself, especially when you were lucky enough to have been born in a developing country like Uganda where there is even no means to diagnose the ailment and not to mention the treatment outlay that requires the family of the cancer patient to organize country wide fundraising and yet still fail to hit the minimum pay for a flight ticket to German for a minor

cancer treatment.
Cervical cancer occurs when abnormal cells on the cervix grow out of control. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus that opens into the vagina.

In every 8 ladies you meet on the rugged face of the earth, at least one of them is already a victim or is at high risk of developing cervical cancer. This is according to WHO report.

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide. Sexually active women aged between 30 and 45 are the most affected by this nightmare. Cervical cancer is very rare in women under 25.
Almost all cases of cervical cancer are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). HPV is a very common virus that can be passed on through any type of sexual contact with a man or a woman who has it. The strange thing is that an HPV infection may go away on its own but sometimes it can cause genital warts or lead to cervical cancer.
Though not conclusive, the symptoms of cervical cancer may include:
·         Bleeding from the vagina that is not normal, such as bleeding between menstrual periods, after sex, or after menopause.

·         Pain in the lower belly or pelvis.

·         Pain during sex.
·         Vaginal discharge that isn't normal.
The only way to confirm that you have cervical cancer is to visit your doctor or hit the nearby hospital door for diagnostic screening test.
