Moral analysts tranquilly believe no generation has been thrilled by extreme sorts of malevolence, immorality and has incredibly suffered intimidating addictions more than this very generation to which I engrave this piece tonight. The word “addiction” is derived from a Latin term for “enslaved by” or “bound to.” Anyone who has struggled to overcome an addiction—or has tried to help someone else to do so—understands why. Today, addiction is outrageously shared uniformly among the young and the elderly, insinuating no one can guide the other any again as nature (God) intended. Addiction exacts a high toll on individuals and society as a whole through the direct adverse effects of drugs, associated healthcare costs, long-term complications (e.g., lung cancer with smoking tobacco, liver cirrhosis with drinking alcohol). Sexual addicts often involuntarily risk in unsafe sex thus subjecting themselves and the associates to all forms of sexually transmitted infections.
Habits and patterns associated with addiction are typically characterized by immediate gratification (short-term reward), coupled with delayed deleterious effects (long-term costs).
