What really causes Breast Cancer??? _by Tony Abet

It was a heart-throbbing scene witnessing this great friend, a mother of two -Jackline at 32 years of age, struggle to utter her last breathe in a Mulago Hospital bed. Simply, the long war was over and finally she had lost it, in unthinkable groan and excruciating pain. A tragic Monday of May 2014 to remember!

Cancer had pirated Jackline's left breast. At first, she felt a small lump in her nipple and thought it was probably a mild infection that would go off with minimal treatment. No one wants to think they could be developing cancer, but choosing to face the truth can always save us more than being in denial. However, I could appreciate that it's like a death penalty in a third world country discovering you finally have cancer.  A place where securing one meal a day can be a miracle. Often people can neither afford high treatment costs for cancer nor are there facilities to effectively handle cancer.

Months had gone past and the small lump on the breast had gone wild. The nipple appearing scaly, red and returning inward in the midst of unbearable pain. The cancer had spread excessively by the time she went seeking serious medical attention. The doctor revealed Jackline was at stage T4c meaning cancer had spread to her chest wall and skin...this was life-sapping! May her soul rest in peace.

Breast cancer affects one in eight women during their lives. No one can point exactly why some women get breast cancer. But oncologists -people who study cancer, have gathered a number of factors common among women who eventually develop breast cancer.

Below I have illustrated risk factors that may get you into deadly pit of cancer. There're those you can avoid, please do.
